We came, we saw, we were conquered by the soul-destroying hagwon machine. This blog starts with the chronicle of my and my partner's 8 months working as ESL teachers at a private academy in South Korea, and the two months following our resignation in which we backpacked Cambodia, Thailand, and Malaysia. After three months volunteering with a conservation corps in Arizona, I spent six weeks backpacking by myself in Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, and Colombia. We're going back to Flagstaff for another 6 months to continue conservation work (now with 100% more chainsaws!), but this time as official Americorps members. As of now the plan is to move to Australia to work in the fall. If all goes well I will begin a round-the-world trip by myself in 2015. Suggestions welcome as to where to stop along the way!
